KZ Key Players

Laurie Evans has been the star man for Kabul Zwanan so far, hitting nine fours and ten sixes across his two innings. The uncapped Englishman hit an unbeaten 39-ball 79 to lead his team to victory in the first match, and he followed that with 64 from 47 balls last time out. He was previously the top scorer in this year’s Vitality t20 Blast in England, playing for runners-up Sussex.
Also in the runs despite the defeat to Balkh Legends was captain Rashid Khan, who biffed an unbeaten 56 from 27 balls. As expected for the number-one T20i bowler in the world, his spin bowling has been economical too – even if he does have just the one wicket to his name so far.
Colin Ingram has made the short trip from Abu Dhabi in top form, meanwhile. The South African’s contribution to Boost Defenders’ two Abu Dhabi T20 Trophy matches were scores of 84* and 51.
Kabul Zwanan will now be looking for Luke Ronchi to recapture his best form at the top of the order – the New Zealander scored 243 runs in 12 Caribbean Premier League innings prior to travelling to Sharjah.

NL Key Players

Ben Cutting followed up his first ever Twenty20 five-wicket haul – 5-28 from his four overs against Kandahar Knights – by claiming 3-25 from four overs against Paktia Panthers. It was in a losing cause, however, despite him then smashing five fours and six sixes in a 39-ball 71 with the bat.
Andre Russell’s return will be timely with the top-order struggling for runs last time out, meanwhile. The West Indian World Cup winner was in explosive form in the Caribbean Premier League – taking a hat-trick against Trinbago Knight Riders before bludgeoning 121 not out from 49 balls in the same game. He finished with 163 runs and 14 wickets in the tournament.
Hashmatullah Shahidi hit 49 not out from 36 balls last time out, helping the Leopards recover from a dismal start against Paktia Panthers.
With the ball, meanwhile, Afghan spinners Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Zahir Khan lead the spin-bowling attack in Lamichhane’s absence. Khan, who helped Lancashire to the t20 Blast semi-finals, took 2-22 from his four overs last time out.
